Terms of Service

Welcome to Lumi ("App", "we", "our", or "us"). Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before downloading, installing, or using the Lumi mobile application.

Lumi is a mobile alarm application designed to enforce waking up by requiring users to perform specific physical or cognitive tasks—such as scanning a registered NFC tag, scanning a QR code, or solving challenges—in order to silence or dismiss an active alarm.

While Lumi is designed to help users wake up on time, we do not guarantee that alarms will ring or dismiss under all circumstances. You acknowledge and agree that:

• System & device settings: Device battery optimizations, manufacturer background restrictions (e.g., Xiaomi MIUI/HyperOS, Samsung One UI, Doze mode), silent modes, volume levels, or operating system updates may interfere with or suppress alarm execution.
• User responsibility: You are solely responsible for testing your alarms, ensuring your device volume is up, keeping your device charged, granting all necessary permissions (exact alarm scheduling, notifications, camera/NFC access), and excluding Lumi from battery optimization settings.
• Limitation of reliance: Lumi should NOT be used as a sole or critical alarm for life-critical, medical, financial, emergency, or high-stakes appointments. We are not liable for any missed alarms, tardiness, lost wages, missed flights, or other damages arising from alarm failure.

NFC tags and QR codes must be placed in safe, accessible locations within your home. You agree not to place NFC tags or QR codes in dangerous, elevated, or hazardous locations (e.g., near hot stoves, slippery staircases, electrical hazards).

• Injury disclaimer: Lumi is not responsible for any physical injuries, falls, or property damage sustained while attempting to physically locate or scan an NFC tag or QR code upon waking up.

You may use Lumi anonymously (offline mode) or sign in via Google OAuth / Supabase to enable cloud backup.

• Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
• Account termination: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activities.

Lumi may offer free features as well as paid premium subscriptions or one-time purchases. Payments are processed through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and managed via RevenueCat.

• Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period in your App Store or Play Store account settings.
• Refunds: All purchases and refund requests are subject to the standard refund policies of the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We do not process direct monetary refunds.

Lumi, including all code, software, UI/UX designs, trademarks, logos, graphics, and visual elements, is the intellectual property of Lumi or its licensors.

• License: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App for your personal, non-commercial use on mobile devices owned or controlled by you.
• Restrictions: You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, create derivative works of, or redistribute the App or any portion thereof.

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law.
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security-related or license-validation features of the App.
• Attempt to bypass alarm dismissal mechanics through unlawful software modification.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL LUMI, ITS DEVELOPERS, AFFILIATES, OR SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, MISSED APPOINTMENTS, OR PERSONAL INJURY) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE) THE APP.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be effective immediately upon posting in the App or on our website. Your continued use of Lumi after any updates constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of your applicable jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
